Security
One of the most important aspects of digital interactions is to make them in a safe environment, both to create and to consume the content. So, let's double check the differences between Midiacode and the competitors in the security factor.
Security | Midiacode Studio | QR Code Generator | QR Tiger | QR Code Kit |
---|---|---|---|---|
Customizable Short Link Domain | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
SSO SAML, global standard for Single Sign On | Yes | No | No | No |
Audit Logs | Yes, in two layers | No | No | No |
Domain Block for new users | Yes | No | No | No |
SSL/HTTPS | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
2FA for Sign In | Yes | No | No | No |
Data Criptography | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
QR Code Portability | Yes, Technology and Contract | No | No | No |
Security is a non-negotiable factor for industrial and corporate applications.
Some of the security terms are not known by most of the clients, so we have here the explanation of the itens:
- Customizable Short Link Domain: the brand can change the short link domain to a exclusive option, adding a security layer on QR Codes, as other publishers will not be able to create codes with that specific and customized short domain.
- SSO SAML: SSO (Single Sign-On) and SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) are closely related but serve different roles in authentication
SSO (Single Sign-On): A user authentication process that allows access to multiple applications with a single login. It eliminates the need for multiple passwords, improving security and user experience.
SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language): A standard protocol used for exchanging authentication and authorization data between an identity provider (IdP) and a service provider (SP). It enables SSO by allowing users to log in once and access multiple applications securely. Also it permits Midiacode clients to manage the user profiles and access from internal network.
- Audit Logs: Whenever a change is made to content or a QR Code, it must be recorded so the client can verify who made the change, when, how, and why. This is crucial for regulated markets but also useful in general cases where tracking specific changes and their authors is necessary. In Midiacode, we do logs in two layers. In the content and in the workspace levels.
- Domain Block for new users: this feature does not permit the authorized users to add new contributors to the workspaces (folders) that are not a worker from the company.
- SSL/HTTPS: SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a security protocol that encrypts data between a user’s browser and a website server, preventing interception by hackers. It has mostly been replaced by TLS (Transport Layer Security), but the term SSL is still commonly used. HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is the he secure version of HTTP. It uses SSL/TLS encryption to protect data transmission between a web browser and a website, ensuring privacy and security.
- 2FA for Sign In: Two factor authentication for new users, assuring that the email they have provided to the sign in process is really owned by them.
- Data Criptography: is the science of encrypting and decrypting information to protect it from unauthorized access. It ensures confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity in digital communications.
- QR Code Portability: When a company or government hires QR Codes from a company, one of the main concerns regards to the ownership of the QR Codes. Questions are raised as “if the contract is finished, for any circunstance, how the QR codes are going to behave? Are they going to stop working?” With QR Code Portability, the codes are owned by the client and will follow them forever, even if the contract is finished. For that, Midiacode has technology and contract terms (wind down) that assure the ownership for the client and the transference of those assets in the case of a contract termination. This is one of the most important aspects of hiring a QR Code company, mostly for packaging use or government (when they place QR Codes in cast iron plates). How many times we scan a QR Code and it is not working anymore?! It happens due to the lack of QR Code Portability.
Advanced features
Basic tech won’t give you a competitive edge. The difference between a tool that “works” and one that drives growth lies in its advanced features.
Advanced Features | Midiacode Studio | QR Code Generator | QR Tiger | QR Code Kit |

Integrated CMS | Yes, corporate level CMS | No, just PDF upload. | No, just PDF upload. | No, just PDF upload. |

Geolocation | Yes | No | Yes | No |
Campaign scheduling | Yes | No | No | No |
Integrability to legacy systems | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
The advanced features sets the difference between a Boeing and a Cessna.
Some of the advanced terms are not known by most of the clients, so we have here the explanation of the itens:
- Integrated CMS: with a Content Management System, perfectly integrated to the QR Code creation engine, a company can fast and practically create campaigns in just one shot, saving time and money. With advanced resources, as Midiacode has, the company can manage who is publishing, the role of publishers, invite third party to co-create, among many other advanced features.
- 3rd Generation QR Codes: Static QR Codes are the first generation. Dynamic QR Codes are second generation. The third generation permits that with just one QR Code, the client is able to deliver a content (PDF, HTML, video, audio…) and multiple links, all together. Also multiple website pages may be merged together, delivered by a single QR Code. For instance, you can place together a video explaining about the dolphins life, the explanation of dolphins from wikipedia and a form from Google, testing if end-users understood the dolphin explanations, all those content from different websites and web systems, presented by just one QR Code. Another good example is a PDF delivered by a research company with multiple links to its main website, Instagram, Facebook, email, among others. All that, behind just one QR Code, easy to create, easy to publish, easy to access.
- 4th Generation QR Codes: those codes are able to deliver content in the same way the 3rd generation does, but also delivering different content to different user profiles or location. For instance, if you place a QR code in a product that is exported to english speaking countries and to spanish speaking countries, the end-user of each country will see the same content, but on their specific languages.
- Super Apps Development: the creation of super apps white label that interacts with QR codes perfectly in order to create a full experience to the brands. The Super Apps not only interacts with QR Codes, but also with geolocation, short links and other triggers for content and interaction, releasing a significant power to the brand to interact with end-users with hyper personalization and hyper contexts.
- App: an application that scans QR Codes and shows the content in alignemnt with the technologies offered by the service provider.
- Geolocation: this feature permits the creator to publish a content using geolocation as triggers. Using that, the end-user does not need to scan a QR Code, but, based on his location, a content is available. This feature is very usefull for tourism and education cases.
- Integrability to legacy systems: the capacity of the system to easily integrate to existing software solutions in the client premises.
Dynamic Content Types
After understanding the previous features, now it is time to see the difference regarding the type of content you can publish in each of those platforms. The dynamic ones are those that you can change and update the content, keeping the QR Code and the short link.
Dynamic Content Types | Midiacode Studio | QR Code Generator | QR Tiger | QR Code Kit |
---|---|---|---|---|
Website (URL) | Yes, fastest redirections | Yes | Yes | Yes |

Audio & Podcast | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
Integrated Form builder | Yes | No | No | No |
Google Forms | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
The most important content types are well covered, but the differences are still crucial.
Some of the Dynamic Content Type terms are not known by most of the clients, so we have here the explanation of the itens:
- PDF Web: different than PDF downloadable, the PDF Web does not deliver the content to end-user, but shows it direct into the browser. It brings extra safety to end-users and to publishers, saves smartphone memory space, assures that end-user is accessing the latest version and keeps the visualization quality.
Static Content Types
The static content types are those that you the QR Code and the short link are tied to that specific content. If you change the content, you must also change the QR Code. For industrial and corporative use, it is not recommended. It also lacks analytics and customization.

If you are a corporate, industrial or institutional user, do not use static QR Codes. We have countless disaster cases to share from organizations that used static QR Codes.
Static QR codes are typically used for academic work (by students), tests, non-commercial applications, or personal projects. However, if a QR code is intended for product packaging, printed materials, web-shared content, or any large-scale use, a dynamic QR code is essential.
Almost every week, we see cases where static QR codes have caused serious problems for brands. This usually happens because a “brilliant marketing team” tried to save a few cents by avoiding a dynamic QR code service— and it ends up costing the company significant financial losses.
Cutting corners on QR codes doesn’t pay off.
